His Holiness 1008 Shree Parampujya Dandiswami Shreemad Dattayogeshwardev Tirth Maharaj was born in Bhavnagar (Saurashtra), on the date 7th January 1919, in a highly cultured , educated , religious Vedic – Brahmin family.

Gurudev received high education and became Mechanical and Electrical Engineer. He worked in high ranks an foreign companies in Chennai, Coimbtore and Banglore for few years. At that time Gurudev unexpectedly associated with a well – known saint of South India. Due to discrimination and dispassion Gurudev became restless for “Self Realisation” Finally in celibacy he renounced the world and took to Himalayas. There he practiced Yoga and Datta – Upasana for several years, eating only cow’s milk and fruits.
Gurudev Completed the holy pilgrimage of Chardham of Himalayas (Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath) on foot and eating only fruits. Later he did the ardous pilgrimage of “Amarnath” on foot and practiced Yoga in the cave for a month. He experienced God’s vision.
Gurudev went to western-Tibet on foot and completed very ardous pilgrimages and circumambulation of well known holy “Kailash and Mansarovar”. There he had a divine – vision of Bhagawan Shree “ Dattatreya”. Then Gurudev went on foot to very arduous pilgrimages of “ Muktinath” and “Damodarkund” in Nepal. During all these pilgrimages he lived on only fruits and cow’s milk.

Gurudev lived in Kashi for 20 years in Asharam situated on the bank of holy river Ganga and Practiced Yoga under the valuable guidance of a renowned saint “ Mata Shree Anandamayi”. He also studied science of Yoga and Tantra for several years under the great learned scholar – Dr. Gopinath Kaviraj (M.A, Ph.D, D.Litt, Mahamahopadhyaya, Padma Vibhushan, Sarvatantra Sarvabhaum etc.)
Gurudev completed Shree Gayatri Maha Puruscharan of 24 lakh Mantras as per ancient vedic tradition in Kashi. Later he was initiated in to the high order of “Dandi- Sanyas” with complete rituals of 3 days and nights by his holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya of “Govardhan Peeth Puri, Shreemad Niranjandev Tirth Swamiji Maharaj” and was declared the “First Disciple” and leagal heir (the next pontiff – 145) of Govardhan Peeth of Puri. This news were published in various newspapers.

In the “ World Yoga Conference” held at Delhi, Gurudev gave eloquent and elaborated speech on” Yoga on Mindless Mind” and made audience spell bound. For this Gurudev was honored the “Little Yoga Shiromani” at the hands of His Excellency the President of India.
Venerable Gurudev “ Dandi – Swamiji is well versed with about 10 languages and has written and published several good books on Yoga, Vedanta, Dharma, Tantra, Sadhna, Yatras etc.

Revered Gurudev, through religious discourses and guidance , helps the aspirants to make spiritual progress.
